Metamorphosis

Thoughts concocted in the mind
Words and voice to bind
Heard by the other person
They’re now open to interpretation!

You meant to say something
Tried to convey everything
Feelings quelled the conversation
Did your meaning get lost in translation?

A lot is said in the unsaid
Modulation, expressions unread
The orbs, some meaning they lend
Not easy to comprehend!

Read between the lines they say
Understand that implied, in a way
You learn to communicate early
But is this true, actually?

Numb

You may think all day, about that mess
Giving words to emotions in your thought process
You can see cracks on the wall
You know it’s time that you take a call

Yet, when you hear them say the verdict
Do you actually, listen to it?
You can’t think or feel, as you’re told
The words don’t find a voice to hold

That moment, when you go numb all over
Your feet frozen to the floor, now not yours to rover
You saw it coming didn’t you?
But it feels like a jolt, a lurch, unreal to be true!

All you do is swallow the lump and shut your eyes
Trying to put the neurons to sleep as they take strides
And you wake up hoping it were a bad dream
That’s when the truth sinks in your stream.

Note: The picture chosen, has a lot happening, the firecrackers, the lights and the sounds associated.( Yes, I know you can’t hear the sounds). They leave you bedazzled and mesmerised and you don’t think about anything else. All that stimulus numbs your sensations! For that particular moment, you are frozen in time.

I tried to contrast the theme of the poem with this particular picture.

Ironical isn’t it?

A chance, a choice…

A chance , a choice
To ponder or rejoice?

Given options to select
Making sure not to neglect
The better one, did you reject?

When granted, easy to take
Confusing to pick, your own cake
The choice, how do you make?

Unlike an answer sheet
That is an easier feat
Would it be wise to retreat?

Bound to a side by this thread,
Veering towards another, you dread
Which should be the path to tread?

Ironic is this freedom
Gives peace seldom
This needs a lot of wisdom

A chance, a choice
To ponder or rejoice?

So close yet so far

The distance is variable
Their status says available
Do you talk, if it’s a click away?
So close yet so far

Near may be some one to your place
You miss the chance to see their face
Too busy in the mundane?
So close yet so far.

A change of emotion in your mind
Doubts have left the good times behind.
Difficult to do eye contact?
So close yet so far.

Miles away they’ve gone
Yet they know what’s on
Still in touch?
So close yet so far.

Of 32 teeth and beyond

250000 rpm is the speed that you ride
Drilling through caries that you got to debride
Gushing water from the airotor
Maintaining your grip when the patient is frantic with fear !

Inject LA, raise a flap nicely
Elevate till its moves freely
Extract with a forcep, apply some force
The joy is seen on patient and Doctor of course!

Dealing with impressions that last for a while
Pouring them, to give the right smile
Of braces, brackets, wires and retainers
There’s a lot of technique, too many pliers!

Replacing teeth that have bid goodbye
Matching shades and size with the nearby
Happy is the old patient to be able to chew
While the young flashes the pearly whites, new.

Mixing materials till the right consistency
Shaping them till they reach their rigidity
Dozens of instruments, the list is countless
In each there are sizes, and they’re priceless!

Cleaning the mouth removing debris
Ultrasonic has made life so easy
Cavity preparation using indirect vision
Or treading in canals With millimetres of cross section!

Of 32 teeth and beyond
Of speed, torque and chemical bond!
A field dealing with the oral cavity
One that is named dentistry.

Wishing all the practising dentists and the budding ones a very Happy Dentist’s Day!

Drift Apart

There comes a phase
When you drift away
You are no longer in the chase
It is not going your way

The direction has flipped
You are repelled away
You struggle to keep it zipped
But it’s impossible to stay .

The network is slowly deranging
Away from the city , never abrupt
The ringing cracks foretell an ending
You saw it coming- the disconnect erupt .

The glue has dried , the binding is weak
Roaring comes the wind , it blows
Pages fly , you see them with hopes that are bleak
With Extended palms, you grasp all you can , at this close .

PS: I think this picture of the skyline with the clouds does justice to the theme of the poem.

Do leave your feedback.

Of Wires and Life

DSC00539

You start this subject in second year
By final first, only a fraction of it you hear

From glass slabs, casts and pliers
You deal with patients, Alginate and wires

The wire will be your best friend
All you have to give is the right bend

Adaptation is the key word
Approved, made us happy when we heard.

I apply this in life as well
We must be flexible to dwell

Choose wisely the turn you takeDSC00529
It may not be easy to correct this mistake

One may be under stress and strain
But to ‘break down’, you must refrain.

PS: This poem is based on wire bending which is done in Orthodontics in dentistry. I have written about my thoughts in relation to it, and how I apply this in life.

Your book

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/951/16567369/files/2014/12/img_2128.jpg

Life is the topic in a sentence
One for which all have an opinion to dispense

Some may give serious philosophies
Formulate various theories
They try and explain with an analogy
How things are based on trilogy

Others may say things are what they seem
You ought not to worry about unseen
Tread the path less travelled
Smile along at what is propelled!

Yet there’s an underlying similarity
Life is spoken about regularly
An attempt to comprehend , it is constant
Of the daily events, dissonant.

Every night a new page is written
One which is unique to each person
Of immense knowledge is each day
In books that does not find its way!

Iceberg

What I feel is invisible
To you it may be avoidable
Not seen when it’s illuminated
Something , it’s neglected.

If only it would elude
All this it could preclude
Tangled in many a bubble
Few pop, I see it crumble

That moment of dismay
Quickly it does not go away
A sense of urge and restlessness
Leaving me with an emptiness.

Like an iceberg afloat water
It has not a single layer
As I dive deeper within
It’s better to leave some pearls hidden.

Then and Now

Once I knew the daily lesson
Now I ask others for end term portion

Once I tried to study daily
Now I do that in study leave

Once I would revise a day before
Now I study the previous night, even more

Once I would not know one question’s answer
Now I’m happy to know a few answers in the paper

Once I would never attempt ‘trying’
Now I do that often whilst answering

Once I had fixed rules and theorems
Now I have variable situations, and problems.

Once I never lamented or wondered
Now I rhyme along where I’ve blundered.
